Raised in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Roberts received his diploma from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. After practicing general dentistry in the Air Force and private practice for three years, he received specialty training and certification in periodontics at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.

Dr. Roberts is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Sacramento District Dental Society, and the American Academy of Periodontology. He is involved in dental study groups, in which he works with other specialists and general dentists to formulate optimal dental treatment plans.

Dr. Roberts and his wife, Debbie, have been married since 1985, and have two sons. He enjoys coaching his sons' sports teams, as well as fly fishing and golf.
